This research analyzed trends in information literacy (IL) scholarship in Tanzania from 1990 to 2024 using content analysis of publications from Google Scholar. An observable trend of positive growth in the publication of IL studies within the country has been identified, highlighting the field's multidisciplinary nature. Additionally, a significant dependence on the mixed-method research approach was evident in most of the studies analyzed. The analysis revealed MJ Lwehabura, ET Lwoga, and E Wema as the most prominent contributors to IL research, with the University of Dar es Salaam, Sokoine University of Agriculture, and Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences as leading institutions. While many IL researchers publish in international journals, a substantial amount of their work appears in the University of Dar es Salaam Library Journal, which is important for local outreach. However, publishing in international journals is essential for enhancing visibility and global impact.
